Most San Diego residents have plenty of things to smile about.
However, there are some folks who avoid smiling at all costs. Are you one of those people who cover their mouth when they laugh? Do you keep your mouth closed when someone takes a picture of you? Have you been hiding unsightly teeth for years?
It’s time to take care of those tooth problems and get a new lease on life.
Dr. Marcos Ortega at Marcos Ortega DDS in San Diego can make it happen!
If you are missing one or more teeth, and live in the San Diego area, talk to us about dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement that includes both root and crown. Because it is anchored into the jawbone, it looks and feels like a natural tooth.
Are your teeth yellow or gray? Have your teeth whitened at our San Diego dental practice and experience an instant transformation.
Many of your friends and neighbors have benefited from porcelain veneers. They correct several types of imperfections and can be applied in just one visit to our dental office.

San Diego cosmetic dentistry is part science and part art.
I’m Dr. Marcos Ortega of Marcos Ortega DDS and enjoy using my extensive dental training and specialized artistic skills to design treatment plans unique to each of my San Diego cosmetic dental clients.
In order to achieve an attractive, yet natural looking result, I do much more than recommend specific procedures. I consider the shape, alignment, color and condition of the teeth. In order to create a balanced look, the facial shape and coloring is taken into account. The San Diego dentistry client’s age, health condition and lifestyle all influence the plan.
At Marcos Ortega DDS, there is no one size fits all treatment plan.
My artistic abilities have been perfected over several years of creating smile transformations for my cosmetic dentistry clients. I am constantly receiving the latest training in new techniques and materials.
Even fairly recent cosmetic dental procedures such as teeth whitening and porcelain veneers have advanced considerably. Dental implants are a truly remarkable solution for our California dental clients who have lost one or more teeth.
I would love to design a personalized smile makeover for you. When the work has been completed and you are enjoying your new look, it will only be obvious to those who see you all the time. Others will assume you have always been blessed with a naturally beautiful and healthy smile.

Many San Diego cosmetic dentistry patients with a gummy smile undergo crown lengthening surgery to bring proper balance and symmetry to their smile. Gum tissue and, in some cases, bone is removed to expose more of the visible part of a tooth. It is a safe procedure that does not affect healthy tooth structure.
A ‘gummy smile’ is a term used to describe a smile with teeth that appear too short because an unusual amount of bone and soft tissue hide part of the crown. Our San Diego cosmetic dental patients who have opted for crown lengthening love how their new perfect smile looks and feels. Some of our crown lengthening clients also choose teeth whitening for an extra-dazzling smile!
Crown lengthening is not used solely for cosmetic reasons. When a tooth is injured and breaks at the gum line or if a filling or crown comes off a tooth that contains decay, crown lengthening makes additional tooth structure accessible for further restorative work. It is also used to treat some types of periodontal disease.
At Marcos Ortega DDS, we perform cosmetic and restorative crown lengthening for patients in the San Diego area. The surgery can be performed by a general dentist, periodontist or oral surgeon.
If you are interested in crown lengthening or other cosmetic dental procedures and live in the San Diego area, schedule an exam with Dr. Marcos Ortega by calling 619-295-4545. We are conveniently located at 306 Walnut Ave., Suite 25 in San Diego. When you come in, we can show you before and after photos of California cosmetic dentistry clients who are enjoying their new smile.

A great smile is essential for putting your best face forward. At Marcos Ortega DDS, we not only restore teeth to their original condition; we make many San Diego smiles better than they ever were before!
Some patients have only a few problems they wish to correct. Perhaps one or two teeth are misshapen and seem out of alignment. If the problem teeth are only superficially crooked—meaning they do not need to be moved into place with orthodontia—porcelain veneers are the answer. Veneers are wafer-thin porcelain shells that are attached to the front of one of more teeth. They are extremely versatile and can correct shape, color, or both.
Another plus: porcelain veneers are essentially non-invasive and do not affect healthy tooth structure.
Some of our California dental patients were happy with their smile in years past but now want to bring up the whiteness a notch or two. Teeth whitening is a popular procedure for our cosmetic dentistry clients. We provide a variety of teeth whitening options for every type of smile. If you are ready to brighten your smile, come on in; we’ll help you find the best tooth whitening system for your smile.

I’m Dr. Marcos Ortega of Marcos Ortega DDS. My office is located at 306 Walnut Ave., Suite 25 in San Diego. One of the best things about being a San Diego area dentist is interacting with my patients. During initial dental consultations, I listen carefully to my patient’s short and long term dental goals.
I enjoy discussing options and developing effective treatment plans tailored specifically to each person. Some of my clients desire a total smile makeover. I explain in detail the treatments available including teeth whitening, dental veneers, orthodontia, crown restoration, and dental implants.
If a client is nervous about undergoing treatment, we discuss oral conscious sedation. Oral conscious sedation, sometimes called oral sedation dentistry, is a great option for anxious patients. Dental visits do not have to be painful!
After the treatment has been completed, it is very gratifying for me to see my patient’s reaction to their new smile.
I never get tired of creating dramatic smile transformations for the best clients in California!
If you have been considering a smile makeover, let’s talk about your smile. Call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-295-4545 to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation.

A beautiful smile is essential to a polished appearance. Hillcrest cosmetic dentistry is not just for people in the public eye, it is for anyone who desires a youthful looking smile.
Mission Hills, Mission Valley teeth whitening is quicker and more popular than ever. Some of our San Diego cosmetic dental clients invest in total teeth restoration because they have always been self-conscious about chips, gaps or crooked teeth.
Cosmetic dental treatment may consist of dental bonding, dental implants, dental bridges, orthodontics, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening or a combination.

And don’t forego a new smile because you are afraid of dental treatment. Nervous San Diego cosmetic dental clients can wake up to a new smile with oral conscious sedation.

Have you thought about upgrading your smile? Cosmetic dentistry offers many exciting possibilities.
The quickest and least invasive procedure is light teeth whitening. The results are dramatic and teeth whitening side effects are minimal.
If your teeth are slightly crooked, but require no orthodontic work, porcelain veneers could be the answer. Porcelain teeth veneers are translucent, wafer-thin covers that are permanently attached to the front of teeth, correcting chips and stains. Prepless veneers do not require the removal of tooth structure.
If your teeth are more than slightly crooked, it’s not too late for braces. Patients of all ages are undergoing orthodontic treatment and achieving fantastic results. The newest braces are less noticeable, more comfortable and bring teeth into alignment much faster than old-school metal braces.
Has gum recession caused the metal base of an old crown to be visible? Soft tissue grafts and crown replacement can correct this problem.
Are you missing one or more teeth? One of the best tooth replacement options is a dental implant. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.
Can you envision yourself with a dental makeover?
Call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-295-4545 to discuss your cosmetic dentistry options.

A brilliant smile leaves a lasting impression. Professional teeth whitening in our San Diego office can dramatically improve your overall appearance and give you a boost in self-confidence.
Our teeth often turn yellow or gray as we age. The things we eat and drink continually such as colored sodas, coffee and red wine contribute to the staining. Most of us are aware that smoking is not only bad for your lungs; it is an enemy to beautiful teeth. If you are considering having your teeth whitened, you must first decide which method to use. At Marcos Ortega DDS, we enjoy discussing treatment options with our clients. To schedule a consultation to talk about teeth whitening or any other dental procedure, call 619-295-4545.
At-home tooth whitening treatments usually consist of trays filled with whitening solution. It takes 7-14 days to achieve 3-6 shades lighter. Brush-on teeth gels and whitening strips take up to 30 days to achieve barely noticeable results. Whitening toothpaste may lighten superficial stains but often provides no change in appearance of teeth.
Professional teeth whitening procedures performed by a dental professional achieve dramatic results that last far longer than other treatments.
All of the whitening methods may cause tooth pain or sensitivity, but this usually goes away in a few days. If you have dental crowns, porcelain veneers or bonding, it is important to talk to your dentist before choosing a whitening method.
We do smile makeovers!
