How Do You Measure Success in San Diego?

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Affordable San Diego Tooth Bleaching At Marcos Ortega DDS, we are all about success.  Dr. Marcos Ortega’s experience, ability, and commitment to dental excellence result in successful outcomes daily for our dentistry clients. Each team member at Marcos Ortega DDS shares Dr. Ortega’s passion for success.

For many San Diego dental patients, success is a routine check-up that reveals healthy teeth and no cavities. For our cosmetic dental clients, success is a stunning smile makeover using veneers, teeth whitening and tooth-colored fillings. For our San Diego patients with a missing tooth, dental implants are used to successfully restore their smile. It is exciting to see implant recipients smile for the first time after receiving their new tooth implant.

We also enjoy completing successful tooth-straightening procedures for youth and adults. Though these transformations take longer than one-visit smile re-designs, the results are no less incredible. In fact, our San Diego orthodontic patients probably appreciate their straight teeth and beautiful smile more than any of our other patients.

Success sometimes means removing tetracycline stains for a San Diego teeth bleaching patient who has been hiding his/her smile for years. Sometimes, success is as simple as helping a nervous patient feel relaxed and comfortable during their visit to our San Diego family dental office .  We also offer sedation dentistry for anxious patients.

What do you desire for your smile? At Marcos Ortega DDS, our success depends on your complete smile satisfaction.

To meet our team and discuss your smile specifics, call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-717-8459.

Prevention-Oriented Dentistry

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

tooth decay pictures at http://www.MySanDiegoSmiles.com Are you a San Diego area parent of young children? Do you want them to develop better oral hygiene habits than you did when you were young? Perhaps you have a beautiful smile and want to prevent tooth decay. Many San Diego people have a mouth full of fillings and don’t want to add another one to their collection.

At Marcos Ortega DDS, we have a prevention-oriented philosophy of dental care.

Your first step toward dental health begins with a prevention consultation with cosmetic dentist Dr. Marcos Ortega.

San Diego dental patients of all ages need to start with an exam to determine their current status. Your dental condition is influenced by your dietary habits, previous dental work, physical health, medications, lifestyle and family history. After a comprehensive analysis, Dr. Marcos Ortega can establish a decay prevention plan just for you.

A prevention plan is a multi-faceted approach designed to maintain optimum dental health. It involves affordable preventative services at Marcos Ortega DDS. Twice-yearly exams reveal early problems before they progress to bigger problems needing procedures such as dental implants. Deep cleanings prevent a multitude of serious dental issues for our Mission Hills, Mission Valley and Bankers Hill patients who faithfully keep their regular cleaning appointments.

Oral health cannot be maintained solely in our office. Daily brushing and flossing is essential. A healthy diet is necessary and will deliver benefits to your whole body – not just your teeth.

If you suspect you have a cavity or gum disease, call us at 619-717-8459 before it gets worse. We can successfully treat your current problems and restore your dental health. In addition, we will set you on the path toward a healthier future.

What Does A Missing Tooth Say About You?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

San Diego Mini-Implants When you meet someone in San Diego who is missing a front tooth, what does that say to you? Do you wonder if they were in an accident? Do you automatically start making assumptions about their income, level of education and overall physical health?

Though it is extremely unfair, we are often judged (and misjudged) by our appearance. Even if a person is impeccably dressed and groomed, a missing front tooth detracts from the overall pleasing impression.

Here is a personal story from a woman who lost a tooth:

I lost my job and along with it my dental insurance, then a month later, one of my front teeth. It has been very hard to find work…. and I know the missing tooth has cost me several jobs.”

A missing tooth can be a big deal.

Dental implants not only restore oral health, they restore self-confidence. Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. Studies have shown that after more than 20 years, the vast majority of dental implants placed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons continue to function at peak performance. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dental implants are one of the procedures we routinely perform at Marcos Ortega DDS to help our San Diego clients regain the beautiful smile they once had. Not all cosmetic dental procedures are as extreme as dental implants. There are many minimally-invasive remedies for unattractive smiles.

Porcelain veneers instantly provide a perfect, gleaming tooth surface for San Diego clients with broken or discolored teeth. Tooth whitening is a quick and affordable dentistry procedure in San Diego that achieves dramatic results without requiring the removal of any tooth structure. Call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-717-8459 for more information about smile design and restorative dentistry.

How Mini Dental Implants Can Help Your Smile In San Diego

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

How Mini Dental Implants Can Help Your Smile in 92103 I’m Dr. Marcos Ortega, a cosmetic dentist in the San Diego area. In a recent post, I explained how traditional dental implants are used to dramatically improve the lives of my San Diego denture and cosmetic dentistry clients. Today’s topic is mini dental implants, sometimes called ‘immediate implants’.

Though they are not as well known as traditional tooth implants, mini implants are also being used successfully in the 92103 postal code area to improve smiles. Like their larger diameter counterparts, mini implants can support a restoration for one or more missing teeth or replace a bridge or fixed denture. Tooth restoration clients and denture wearers benefit greatly from these slip free dental implants that are anchored securely in the jaw bone.

In some cases, a patient is unable to receive traditional full-size dental implants due to insufficient bone thickness. There are also mini implant patients in the 92103 postal code area who are not able to undergo dental implant surgery due to health issues. These overdenture patients are often excellent candidates for the mini version.

The placement of toothpick-size mini dental implants can usually be done in one dental visit. The placement usually requires no incisions or stitches. Recovery time, if necessary, is usually very short. Most patients are able to eat dinner that evening.

Many San Diego cosmetic dentistry clients are happy to learn that mini implants are a lower cost dental implants option. Don’t let the word ‘mini’ fool you; Your smile can receive a maximum upgrade with mini dental implants.

Call cosmetic dentist Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-717-8459 to schedule a consultation.

San Diego Dentistry Cosmetic at Marcos Ortega DDS

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Cosmetic Denistry in San Diego Do you have a damaged tooth that causes you embarrassment? Even if all your other teeth are nicely shaped and pearly white, guess what other people notice? Yep, the ugly duckling. You have probably experienced that yourself when you have looked at a smile that contains one discolored tooth. No matter how hard you try, the unsightly one is impossible to ignore.

A beautiful smile is an important component of your overall appearance. Unattractive teeth draw the eye away from other pleasing features such as thick shiny hair, gorgeous eyes or a peaches and cream complexion.

Fortunately, there are several cosmetic dental procedures to restore or repair one or more teeth. At Marcos Ortega DDS in San Diego, we can complete most of them in one short visit. Think about it; you could achieve a stunning smile in less than an afternoon!

Veneers, Bonding and Cosmetic Implant Dentistry
Dental bonding is an affordable cosmetic dentistry procedure available in San Diego at Marcos Ortega DDS. We use dental bonding in a variety of applications. In addition to repairing damage, dental bonding can close gaps between teeth.

Porcelain veneers are another minimally invasive cosmetic fix. Like cosmetic dental bonding, veneers correct chips, cracks and improve tooth shape.

What if your problem is not an unattractive tooth but a missing tooth? Don’t despair, a beautiful smile is still possible in San Diego with dental implants.

For more information about veneers, bonding, implants and other cosmetic denistry procedures, call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-717-8459. We are conveniently located at 306 Walnut Ave., Suite 25 in San Diego. We provide advanced dentistry for patients in Hillcrest, Mission Hills, Mission Valley and the surrounding areas. We look forward to showing you cosmetic dentistry ‘before after’ pictures.

San Diego Tooth Restoration: Dental Implants and Dental Bridges

Friday, February 19th, 2010

San Diego Dental Implants and Dental BridgesWhen my San Diego clients ask me about San Diego tooth restoration, I usually tell them about fixed (or ‘traditional’) dental bridges or tooth implants. A dental bridge is an artificial tooth which replaces a missing tooth. The false tooth (called a ‘pontic’) is fused to porcelain crowns on either side of the missing tooth.

Tooth replacement has been a highly requested procedure at my San Diego dental practice. Patients from the Mission Hills, Mission Valley and Bankers Hill area have expressed concern about tooth replacement for many years. Most of my questions have to do with the strength of the tooth replacement, and durability.

Dental implants are also popular concern for my San Diego tooth replacement patients. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

After it has bonded with the bone (it usually takes three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (crown) is then attached. The entire process takes several months, but consistently yields terrific results for San Diego tooth restoration patients. My California cosmetic dentistry patients appreciate the fact that I stay up to date on the latest advancements in tooth replacement procedures.

Both smile restoration options preserve or restore facial contour and allow you to talk and eat normally. Tooth replacements prevent adjoining teeth from gradually shifting and can help correct bite problems, too. Tooth implants and dental bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Many San Diego area dental patients have been treated successfully with these tooth restoration alternatives.

Call Marcos Ortega DDS to schedule an evaluation for California tooth restoration. You can schedule your tooth restoration by calling us at 619-295-4545.

How Dental Implants are Changing Dentures in San Diego

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

How Dental Implants are Changing Dentures in San Diego If you are one of the many San Diego denture wearers, you know that they are not the ideal solution for missing teeth.

The problems with dentures include slipping, gum irritation, trouble eating and talking, bone loss, and inability to taste food due to a covered palate. Clearly, dentures do not feel and function like natural teeth.

Good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups can help you avoid the need for dentures later in your life, but other factors can make dental replacements an inevitability.

The good news? Modern dental implant technology is making dentures a thing of the past.

At Marcos Ortega DDS we have information and expertise that can help bring hope to San Diego denture wearers through dental implant technology. There are a variety of effective denture/implant tooth configurations.

Call Marcos Ortega DDS at 619-295-4545 to book an implant overdenture consultation with Dr. Ortega. We can help you understand your options and can recommend options.

If you currently wear traditional dentures and are not happy with them, implant anchored dentures may dramatically change your life. Your chewing ability will be similar to that of natural teeth and you will be able to eat hard foods again. How about a thick T-bone at your favorite San Diego steakhouse? In addition to being able to enjoy your meal, you will avoid the embarrassment of having your dentures rattle around in your mouth in public.

Before you pay for another denture reline, ask your San Diego dentist about the possibility of dental implants. While tooth implants are a significant investment, the dental implant cost is very reasonable when you consider they can last a lifetime.

Attention San Diego denture wearers: there is life after dentures with tooth implants!

Come see us at Marcos Ortega DDS at 306 Walnut Ave., Suite 25 in San Diego, 92103 for more information about dental implants.
